# Creating Subscription Invitations (Quick subscribe links)

Quick subscribe links are checkout links that start a subscription, or sell a one-time purchase, in one click. Each link has its products and purchase option already chosen, so a shopper who opens it lands straight on checkout with everything filled in. Use them for "Subscribe now" buttons, newsletters and landing pages, or email one to a single customer as an invitation.

| 🔍 To access this page, go to [**Supr Bundles & Subscriptions > Grow > Quick subscribe links**](https://admin.shopify.com/apps/super-subscriptions/app/grow/quick-subscribe) in the app. You can also reach it from **Subscriptions > Create subscription contract > Create quick subscribe link**.

### When to use quick subscribe links

* **Marketing**: a "Subscribe now" button on your homepage, a landing page or a page builder such as PageFly, or a link in a newsletter, that opens a checkout with the subscription already selected.
* **Customers without a saved card**: Shopify only lets you create a subscription from the admin for a customer who already has a saved payment method. For anyone else, including new customers and in-store or phone orders, send a quick subscribe link: the customer enters their card at checkout and the subscription starts.
* **Support**: send a customer a link for the exact products and schedule they asked for.

### Create a link

1. Go to **Grow > Quick subscribe links** and click **Create link**.
2. Under **Link**, at the top of the page, enter a **Name** (for your own reference) and, if you like, a **Description (optional)**.
3. Under **Products**, click **Product** and choose the product variants, then set the **Quantity** for each. Click **Bundle** to add one of your bundle options (see [Sell a bundle with a link](#3-sell-a-bundle-with-a-link)). A link can hold products and bundles together.
4. Each product and each bundle has its own **Purchase option**: **One-time purchase**, where it starts, or one of the subscription options from the offers it belongs to, grouped by offer. Only the options a product is actually sold on are listed, so one link can mix a monthly subscription, a two-monthly one and one-time items.
5. Check the **Payment** card: it shows the subtotal, any bundle and subscription discount, and an **Estimated total** for the first order. It is an estimate before tax and shipping; checkout shows the exact price.
6. Click **Generate checkout link** to see the link, then **Copy URL** to copy it.
7. Save the link with the save bar at the top of the page. Saved links appear on the **Quick subscribe links** list so you can copy them again later.

A product in no subscription offer can only be a one-time purchase on the link; add it to an offer under **Offers** to sell it on subscription.

Each product must also be one a shopper could buy on your store right now: **Active**, on the **Online Store** sales channel, and in stock (or set to keep selling when out of stock). If a product is archived, a draft, not on the Online Store, sold out or deleted, a warning on that product says which, and the link cannot be generated. Shopify refuses the whole link when any one of its products cannot be added to a cart, so the shopper would land on an empty cart. Click **Edit product** to fix it in Shopify, or remove the product from the link.

One link holds one fixed set of products and bundles, each on its own purchase option. Make a separate link for each combination you want to offer.

### Sell a bundle with a link

A link can sell any of your bundle options, one-time or on subscription, at the price the bundle option gives on your product page. A link can hold up to five bundles, next to any number of products.

1. Under **Products**, click **Bundle**. The list shows your published bundle options, grouped by offer, with each one's type and price.
2. Click a bundle option, then choose its products:
   * **Quantity break** and **Buy X get Y**: choose the product (and its variant). The quantity comes from the bundle option, and a Buy X get Y counts its free or discounted units too.
   * **Fixed bundle**: each product in the bundle is listed with its quantity. Pick a variant where there is a choice.
   * **Build a box**: set how many of each product go in the box. The counter shows how many you have chosen against the box's limits, and **Add bundle** stays unavailable until the box is complete. A box that allows each product only once will not take two of the same.
3. Click **Add bundle**. The bundle appears under **Products** with its products and quantities, and the **Payment** card shows the bundle discount.
4. Choose the bundle's **Purchase option**. It lists the subscription options the bundle option offers; a bundle option set to subscription only has no **One-time purchase**.

To pick a different bundle option, click **Change** on the bundle; **Remove** takes it off the link.

The link opens each bundle's product page in turn with that bundle option, its products and its purchase option selected, adds it to the cart through the same path as a shopper's click, then adds the link's other products and goes to checkout. Each page takes a moment, so a link with several bundles reaches checkout a little later. So the bundle price, free gifts and add-ons are exactly what a shopper would get on the product page. If the bundle option is later removed or no longer shown on that product, the link opens the product page for the shopper to choose.

### Optional extras: discount code, order properties and order note

Under **Additional options** you can switch on:

* **Discount code**: enter a Shopify discount code in **Discount code** and it is applied automatically at checkout. The code must already exist in **Shopify admin > Discounts** and be allowed on subscriptions.
* **Order properties**: add **Property name** and **Property value** pairs that are saved on the order, for example a campaign name or a gift message.
* **Order note**: a note added to the order.

### Send a link to one customer

1. In the **Customer (optional)** card, search for and select the customer.
2. Choose one of their addresses to fill in shipping at checkout, or **Do not autofill address**.
3. Click **Generate checkout link**, then **Send email invitation**, and confirm with **Send email**. The invitation is offered only when the link starts a subscription, that is when at least one product or bundle is on a subscription option.

The invitation uses the **Quick subscribe invitation** email, which you can reword and brand under **Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications**. See [Notifications](/en-us/article/notifications-19cm2cv/).

The customer's details are only used for the link you generate for them. Saved links on the list are general links without anyone's details, so they are safe to share widely.

### Manage your saved links

The **Quick subscribe links** list shows each link's **Name**, **Products** and **Discount**.

* Click **Copy link** on a row to copy it.
* Click a row to open and edit the link. After changing the products, subscription or customer, generate the link again: the old URL is cleared.
* To delete links, tick them and use **Delete**.

### What the shopper sees

Opening the link takes the shopper to your store's checkout with the products, quantities and purchase option already in place (and the discount code, if you added one). They only need to enter their details and card, and no customer account is needed.

|| Opening a quick subscribe link replaces whatever was already in that shopper's cart with the link's products.

### Troubleshooting

* **"Generate checkout link" is disabled**: add at least one product or a bundle.
* **A product only offers One-time purchase**: it is in no subscription offer, or its offers keep their options off quick subscribe links (**Offers > the option > Where it is offered**).
* **A saved link opens an empty cart instead of checkout**: one of its products has since been archived, set to draft, removed from the Online Store, sold out or deleted. Open the link in **Grow > Quick subscribe links** to see which product is flagged, fix it in Shopify or remove it, then generate the link again.
* **Send email invitation is missing**: it only appears once you have selected a customer who has an email address, after the link is generated, and when at least one product or bundle is on a subscription option.
* **The link lands on the cart instead of checkout, or the discount does not apply**: check that the discount code exists, is active and applies to subscriptions. If it still happens, contact support with the link.

### Common questions

* **Can I send customers a one-click link to start a subscription?**
Yes, that is exactly what quick subscribe links are. Create one under **Grow > Quick subscribe links** and put it in an email, a button or a page.
* **Can I start a subscription for a customer who has no saved card?**
Not from the admin, because Shopify needs a saved payment method for that. Send them a quick subscribe link instead: they enter their card at checkout and the subscription starts.
* **A customer bought one time and now wants a subscription. Can I switch their order over?**
The customer can do it themselves from the order in their account: turn on the **Order status page** placement under **Grow > Upsells and cross-sells** (see [Upsells](https://supr-bundles-and-subscriptions.crisp.help/en-us/article/upsells-t8mfl8/#3-where-upsells-appear)). Its first subscription order comes one delivery interval after the original order, so nothing is charged twice. From the admin, a draft order cannot start a subscription in Supr Bundles & Subscriptions; you can also send the customer a quick subscribe link for the same products and subscription option. Once they have checked out with it, refund the original one-time order in Shopify if you do not want to charge them twice.
* **Do I need a separate link for each customer who wants to switch?**
No. One saved link for those products and that subscription option works for everyone. A link made for one customer only adds the convenience of filling in their email and address at checkout.
* **Does the customer need an account to use the link?**
No. The link opens a normal checkout on your store.
* **Can I add a discount code to the link?**
Yes. Switch on **Discount code** under **Additional options** and enter an existing Shopify discount code.
* **Can one link offer several products?**
Yes, add as many variants as you like, each with its own purchase option.
* **Can a link sell without a subscription?**
Yes. Leave each product's and bundle's **Purchase option** on **One-time purchase**, where they start. The link checks out the products, or a bundle at its bundle price, as an ordinary one-time order. Mixing is fine too: some items on subscription and some one-time.
* **Can a link sell a bundle or a box?**
Yes. Click **Bundle** under **Products**, choose the bundle option and its products. See [Sell a bundle with a link](#3-sell-a-bundle-with-a-link).
