Bundle and Subscription Analytics

To access this page, go to Supr Bundles & Subscriptions > Analytics

The Analytics page shows what your bundles and subscriptions earn: revenue from Supr, bundle orders and discounts, recurring revenue, growth, churn, renewals, failed payments and why customers cancel. It adapts to what your store sells, and every report can be exported to CSV.

Table of contents

Date range and comparison

The page opens on Last 30 days. Click the date button to pick a range: Today, Yesterday, the last 7, 30, 90 or 365 days, last week, month, quarter, 12 months or year, or any number of days, weeks or months with or without today. You can also pick a week, month, quarter or year to date, a Black Friday Cyber Monday weekend, one of the last four quarters, or your own start and end dates, then click Apply.

The button next to it shows the period you compare with. Choose No comparison, Previous period (the same number of days just before your range), Previous year, Previous year (match day of week), or Custom to pick your own dates. Each chart then adds a dashed line for that period, and each card shows the change. Hover over a chart to compare the two periods day by day. The same date and comparison buttons are on every report and on Payments, and exports include the compared period in their own columns, named after the comparison.

What the page shows for your store

The Overview tab shows the cards that fit your store, and the Offers tab shows how each offer performs (see Offer performance):

  • Bundles and subscriptions: the bundle and revenue cards first, then the subscription charts.
  • Bundles only: the bundle cards, plus Monthly recurring revenue with a prompt to add subscription options. The other subscription charts are hidden until you sell subscriptions.
  • Subscriptions only: the subscription charts, plus Subscription take rate and a card about bundle options.

Your store counts as selling subscriptions once it has ever had a subscription or has an offer with subscription options, and as selling bundles once it has ever had a bundle order or has an offer with bundle options. Hover over any card's title to see what it measures, and click it to open its report.

Bundle and revenue cards

  • Revenue from Supr: revenue from bundle and subscription lines, and its share of your store's sales. A bundle bought on subscription is counted once.
  • Bundle and subscription revenue: bundle revenue and subscription revenue as two separate lines, each with its previous period dashed in its own colour. A bundle bought on subscription counts as a bundle.
  • Bundle revenue: what bundle lines sold for, after the bundle discount.
  • Bundle orders: orders with at least one bundle, and their share of all orders (the take rate).
  • AOV with vs without a bundle: the average order that includes a bundle beside the average order that does not. It is a comparison, not a measure of what the bundle added.
  • Bundle discount given: the discount your bundle pricing gave, and its share of bundle revenue.
  • Units per bundle order: how many items an average bundle order contains.
  • Revenue by offer and Top bundles: revenue per offer, counted from your orders. Revenue from subscriptions that are not on any of your offers is shown last, as Other subscriptions.
  • Top offers: the five offers that earned most on your product pages, with their visitors and conversion rate. Click its title to open the Offers tab, see Offer performance.
  • Revenue by bundle option and Top bundled products: which bundle options and which products sell best in bundles.

Subscription charts

  • Monthly recurring revenue: the monthly value of all active subscriptions.
  • Subscription order revenue: total revenue from orders that are part of a subscription, including first orders and renewals.
  • Subscription growth: the number of live subscriptions over time. It counts active and paused subscriptions.
  • Subscriptions activated: how many subscriptions started.
  • Paused subscriptions: how many subscriptions are paused.
  • Cancellations: how many subscriptions were cancelled.
  • Customer lifetime value: average revenue per subscription over its lifetime.
  • Churn rate: a rolling 30-day churn rate. Cancellations in the 30 days before each date, divided by the subscriptions live at the start of that window plus those that started during it.
  • Average order value: revenue from subscription orders in the period, divided by the number of those orders.
  • Renewals: how many renewals were processed.
  • Reactivations: subscriptions that went back to active after being paused or stopped.
  • Skipped orders: orders customers skipped in the customer portal.
  • Out of stock issues: renewals skipped or partly fulfilled because of low stock.
  • Failed payments: failed billing attempts. To follow them up, see Where to find failed or past-due subscriptions.

Cancellation reasons

The Cancellation reasons card at the end of the Overview tab breaks down why subscriptions were cancelled in the selected period (for example Too Expensive, No Longer Needed, Customer Request or Merchant Request, plus the reasons you set up in your cancellation flows). With Previous period on, it also shows the change.

You can also see the reason:

  • on each cancelled subscription's page, in its Timeline, and
  • in the cancellationReason column when you export your subscriptions.

A reason only appears if the customer gave one. To ask for one, set up a cancellation flow under Grow > Cancellation flows, see Cancellation and pause flows.

Reports and export

Click the title of any card or chart to open its full report: a chart and a table by day with the period's totals, and the previous period beside it when you compare. Click Reports at the top of Analytics for the full list, including the bundle reports (Revenue from Supr, Bundle and subscription revenue, Bundle revenue, Bundle orders and take rate, AOV with vs without a bundle, Bundle discount given, Revenue by offer, Revenue by bundle option and Top bundled products).

Click Export on any report to download a CSV of its table and totals. Amounts are plain numbers with the currency in the column name, and when you compare, the previous period comes as extra columns. Use Print to print a report or save it as a PDF.

Cohorts

The Subscription cohort analysis card on the Overview tab shows how subscriptions are retained, grouped by the month they started. Click its title (or Cohorts, the first entry under Reports) for the full report. Each row is one month's new subscriptions; each column is a number of months after they started. Choose what the cells show:

  • Retention: the share of that month's subscriptions still active or paused that many months later. Each subscription is measured from its own start date.
  • Revenue per subscription: what each starting subscription has been billed in its first months, the first order included, in your store currency.
  • Orders per subscription: how many orders each starting subscription has placed in its first months, the first order included.

Use Started in the last to look back 6, 12 or 24 months. A cell stays empty until every subscription in its row has reached that month, so recent months fill in over time. Test subscriptions count, as they do on the other charts. Darker cells mean higher values, which makes a drop in retention after a particular month easy to spot.

Payments

Open Reports and click Payments to see how renewal charges went in the period you pick, with the same date and comparison buttons as the rest of Analytics:

  • Paid on first attempt: the share of renewals whose first charge went through.
  • Recovery rate: of the renewals whose charge failed, the share that was paid later, on a retry or after the customer updated their payment method. Renewals still being retried are left out until they are paid or have had no retry for 14 days.
  • Revenue recovered: what those recovered renewals brought in, in your store's currency.
  • Days to recover: the average time from a renewal's first failed charge to its successful one.
  • Failed renewals: how many failed renewals were recovered, are still being retried, or were not recovered.
  • Failure reasons: every reason a charge failed, with its share of failed charges and how many of the renewals it stopped were recovered. Click a reason to read what it means and how to fix it in Understanding billing attempt failures.

Each retry is a charge of its own, so a renewal retried daily adds several failed charges. The line under the tables gives those totals. Test orders count, as they do on the other charts. Retries follow your Dunning settings.

Offer performance

Click the Offers tab on Analytics to see how shoppers use each offer on your product pages, for the date range and comparison you picked. Reports > Offer performance shows the same numbers on a page of its own. For each offer you see:

  • Visitors: shoppers who saw the offer, each counted once a day, so a longer period adds up its days.
  • Views: times a page showed the offer, reloads included.
  • Add to cart and Add to cart rate: times shoppers added the offer to their cart, and that out of its visitors.
  • Orders and Conversion rate: orders with a product bought through the offer, and that out of its visitors.
  • Revenue: what the products bought through the offer sold for, after discounts.
  • Added revenue: what bundles sold for beyond one unit at full price. A $18 bundle of a $10 product adds $8.
  • Average order value and Revenue per visitor: revenue divided by orders, and by visitors.
  • Bundle orders, Subscribed orders and Subscription rate: orders with a bundle, orders with a subscription, and the share of orders with a subscription.
  • Units per order: units bought through the offer divided by orders.

The cards show the main numbers with the change against the compared period; click one to chart it, or pick any of the numbers above the chart. A line under the chart follows shoppers from visitors to add to carts to orders. The Offers table lists every offer with all its numbers; click the arrow beside an offer to see its options (each subscription option, bundle option and the one-time purchase) with how often each was chosen, added to the cart, ordered and what it earned. An offer in a running A/B test shows its variant letter. Export downloads one row per day and offer.

An offer's own page. Click an offer's name to open its performance page, with the same cards, chart and funnel for that offer alone, and an Options table: how often each option was chosen and its share of the choices, add to carts, orders, revenue, average order value and units per order. You also get there from Offers, where the list shows each offer's visitors, conversion rate and revenue for the last 30 days (click the visitors number), and from the offer itself with View performance at the top of the page. If the offer is or was part of an A/B test, a line links to the test's results.

Compare with offers. On an offer's page, click Compare with offers and pick up to three other offers. They are drawn as lines on the same chart and set side by side in a table, with their options below. Offers can sell different products to different shoppers, so read the gaps as a guide rather than a result. To find out which version of one offer sells better, run an A/B test under Grow > A/B tests.

An order counts toward an offer when its products were bought through that offer's widget, as a subscription, a bundle or a one-time purchase. A subscription's first order counts; renewals do not. Counting started when this was added, so earlier dates are empty and the page says which month it started: for sales before then, open Reports > Revenue by offer, which counts your orders. Bots and automated browsers are not counted. Checkout rate, profit and refunds are not measured yet.

Products, Subscription options and Loyalty tabs

  • Products: products sold in bundles and on subscription, with units and revenue, and a Sold in column that says which. Bundle revenue is credited to the products in each bundle line. Click a product for its own report.
  • Subscription options: Revenue by subscription option, Active subscriptions by subscription option, and a list of all of them.
  • Loyalty: Rewards over time, Rewards by type and Rewards by order for your loyalty programs.

If your store does not sell subscriptions yet, Subscription options and Loyalty are marked Not set up. Open them to see what they would show, with example charts clearly marked Example, and a link to add subscription options in Offers.

The tabs use the date range you picked on Overview, and so does Offers.

Common questions

Where can I see why customers cancelled?
In the Cancellation reasons card at the bottom of the Overview tab (click its title for the full report), in each cancelled subscription's Timeline, and in the export.

Why is the number of active subscriptions higher here than in the inventory planner?
Subscription growth counts active and paused subscriptions. The inventory planner counts active subscriptions only, and only the ones renewing in its date range. Use the planner for stock planning.

Can I pick a custom date range?
Yes. Click the date button, select a start and end date on the calendar or type them in, then click Apply.

Does Analytics include one-time orders?
Yes, when they include a bundle: bundle orders bought one time and on subscription are both on the Overview tab. Orders with no bundle and no subscription only count toward your store's total sales, for Revenue from Supr's share, the take rate and AOV with vs without a bundle.

Can I export a report?
Yes. Open the report and click Export to download a CSV.

A number looks wrong or a chart is empty. What should I do?
Check the date range and the comparison setting first. If it still looks wrong, contact support with the chart name and the date range, and we will look into it.
